Volunteer Board

Our league is made possible by our fabulous volunteers, many of whom are players and coaches themselves, who work diligently behind the scenes to ensure all the required logistics are in place to facilitate a safe and fun softball season year after year.

Meet our current board members and get to know their board positions and how they contribute to the success of FPW+SL.

Teresa Barone

Commissioner 2023-2024

Primary responsibilities:

  • Lead recruitment and assignment of new players to teams

  • Organization of league social activities

Teresa (Better known as T-Rex) has been playing as an outfielder for the Free Agents since 2016. Despite joining the league after not playing for 15 years, and with a broken hand, she has cemented herself in this league and has joined the board as commissioner in 2023. T-Rex’s little white dog, Isis, has become a mascot of the Free Agents and the league. After games, you can find T-Rex djing the after game hang out sessions.

When not playing softball, you can catch trex with a yuengling lager beer in hand at any Philly sport event or on the SRT riding her bike, Winona. T also follows college softball (go bruins) and spends a great deal of time watching, listening to, and talking about all things college softball. Additionally, T-Rex attempts to be outdoorsy, and outside of the season, she loves to camp, kayak or hike!

Erin Roar

Co-Chair 2024

Primary responsibilities:

  • Support the Chair and league with logistics

  • Umpire liaison

Erin “Roar” has been a trusted Board member for 4 years now, primarily in the roles of Secretary and Archivist. Those amazing action photos you see on our socials - all Roar. A keen field hockey player in addition to softball, you’ll find Erin somewhere in the outfield either running down fly balls, tracking the action with a scorebook, or with her camera poised to snap that slide into home base. Just look for the brightly colored long socks.

Working with kids in the mental health field, and living in the city with her two rescue cats, Erin is a big supporter of peach wine, sticky buns and cycling insane distances.

Mer McDowell

Treasurer 2024

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain the league’s finances and budget

  • Permit application for City field use

Kai Wonder

At-Large Board Member 2024

Primary responsibilities:

  • Support league operations

  • Identify and develop Competitive play opportunities

Erin Maloney

Chair 2023-2024

Primary responsibilities:

  • Lead communication with the board and with coaches

  • Oversee logistics

Erin "Marin" Maloney has played recreational softball for over three decades, slowly gaining skills, injuries, lost-and-found equipment, and fantastic friendships. She can usually be identified as the player with the Loudest Outfit on the field, since she began playing with LoLs in Spring 2017.

With a ceaseless desire to help everyone have fun and play hard, she has served as the league Commissioner 2020-2022, taking a turn as Secretary in 2019.

"Malones" also enjoys riding horses, hiking and camping, games of friendly competition, funk-forward live music, travel (especially to US and foreign national parks), being "the fun auntie" for her niblings and children of friends, dressing up as a unicorn for no particular reason, and being overly optimistic about how long it will take to get there (late). Under no circumstances should you ask her about her cats, but please do remind her to apply sunblock!

Dani McKean

Secretary 2024

Primary responsibilities:

  • Meeting invites, agendas and minutes

  • Maintain rules and regulations documentation

Danielle Smith

Social Media Manager 2021-2024

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain the league’s digital presence

  • Online registration setup

Danielle has been playing for the LoLz since 2018. Usually found running around the outfield but somehow ending up in the infield!?!

She survived graduate school and has her MSW from Temple University. Danielle also has a cute fluffy white dog named Gizmo and two tux cats, one orange (Dashi) and one black (Gazpacho). When not playing softball she enjoys hikes with her girlfriend (her mushroom forager). In the summer Danielle tries to escape to the NJ beaches.

Danielle loves all things pumpkin flavored/scented , the Eagles, coffee, tacos, and cheese.
